Acupuncture – An Effective Cure For Bell's Palsy  Hi! My name is Finnian. I am 13 years old. Early this summer I contracted Lyme disease. Lyme disease is a serious illness that affects the nervous system.  If seen to early, one can be cured of it. One of the symptoms I had was Bell's Palsy, a form of facial paralysis. Since western medicine doesn't do much for Bell's Palsy, my parents decided to try acupuncture. So, we went to Dr. Min Zhang in Manhattan to begin treatment. After about 4 weeks of treatments my face regained  100% of it's movement. If left to get better on it's own, it can take up to 6 months and never recover fully. With acupuncture, you get needles stuck in exact points in your body, but it doesn't hurt. I was impressed with Dr. Zhang's credentials and hoped to alleviate the fatigue and malaise due to a chronic liver virus. The anti-viral and supplements were not really effective for the years I've used them. Within a few visits, the acupuncture treatments helped alleviate the debilitating malaise almost entirely and helped with the fatigue cycle. While in treatment, I had an accident that precipitated the onset of sciatica for the first time. The focus was put on that painful lower back and leg pain. Without any painkillers, after a few weeks the condition has entirely cleared up and I attribute the acupuncture as a significant source of help in the process. The two chiropractor visits were quite unnecessary by the time I had them. It's encouraging to find a tranquil healing environment in one of Manhattan's busiest hubs of activity.
